The Broken Cisterns of Yisrael

Hear the word of Yahuah, O house of Yaacob! The groaning of the earth is not merely geological upheaval, but the lament of a people long deprived. For generations, Yisrael has relied upon broken cisterns, holding no water—systems of dependence built upon the shifting sands of Babylon and the treacherous promises of Edom (Jeremiah 2:13). This dependence, woven into the fabric of our national life, is a direct consequence of exile, a symptom of the scattering described by Yahuah through the prophets.

Consider the historical weight. The exile to Babylon was not simply a political event; it was a severing from the land, from the sources of life itself. The blessed rain from Yahuah, the springs from the deep, the rivers flowing through our inheritance – these were all diminished, controlled, or lost during those dark years. And even upon return, a complete reclamation of these vital resources was never fully realized. We became reliant on the whims of foreign powers, on the infrastructure built by those who sought to diminish us.
