The Broken Covenant and the Shadow of Babylon
Yisrael, do you not perceive the tightening grip? The news scrolls speak of Edom’s machinations – their fingerprints upon the levers of power, their schemes woven into the fabric of conflict, their deceptions peddled as prosperity. These are not isolated incidents, but the unfolding of Obadiah’s decree (Obadiah 1:10-14): violence against your brother Yaacob, a reaping of the harvest sown in arrogance and deceit. They have rejoiced over the children of Yaacob in the day of their calamity, and now they taste the bitterness of Yahuah’s judgment.
But this judgment is not merely punitive. It is *corrective*. A surgeon’s blade cuts to heal, not simply to wound. Yahuah is dismantling the false foundations upon which Edom has built its dominion, exposing the rottenness at its core. And within this dismantling lies a crucial call to us – a summons to rebuild, not according to the patterns of Babylon, but according to the ancient covenant.
