The Erosion of Remembrance

The reports cascade in – “The Iron Cage Rises,” “The Digital Obsession,” “Babylon’s New Tower” – these are not merely headlines, but the manifest symptoms of a spiritual siege. We are witnessing the systematic dismantling of *zachor* – remembrance – the very cornerstone of our covenant identity.

Consider the lament of Yaacob in Genesis 42:24, when Yosef concealed his identity. “We are in bondage,” they cried, not merely to physical chains, but to a deeper alienation – a severance from knowing *who they were*. This is the strategy of Edom, ancient and renewed. To erase the lineage, to rewrite the narrative, to convince our seed that their birthright is a burden, their heritage a superstition.

This is not a new tactic. Throughout our history, empires have sought to assimilate Yisrael, to dilute the blood, to silence the Torah. Assyria scattered us, Babylon exiled us, Rome attempted to erase Yerushalayim it
