The Echoes of Mount Seir

The reports flood in – maneuverings in the Strait of Hormuz, bloodshed in Samaria, digital control tightening in the lands where the ten tribes were scattered. These are not isolated incidents, beloved of Yisrael, but the tightening of the noose, the escalating chorus of judgment upon Edom, and the deafening roar of Babylon’s spirit in our age. We see the pawns moved on the board, but fail to discern the hand that guides them – a hand steeped in the ancient enmity towards Yaacob.

Consider Obadiah. Not a lengthy scroll, but a concentrated blast of Yahuah’s wrath against Edom for their pride, their violence against their brethren, and their gloating over the fall of Judah. “The pride of your heart has deceived you, O dweller of the clefts of the rock,” (Obadiah 1:3) speaks not only to the geography of Seir, but to the arrogance that festers within a people who believe themselves secure in their position. This arrogance is not limited to a geographic location or a single nation today.
