Yisrael Measures Itself in the Furnace of Judgment
The modern state of Israel fixates on territorial measurements while scattered Yisrael undergoes a deeper reckoning. This is not a time for boasts of military strength, but for honest self-assessment before Yahuah.
The report from Israel National News speaks of a ‘generation measuring the Land.’ Let it be known that the true measure is not of borders or arable ground, but of the spirit within. The generation of the spies, sent forth by Moses, saw giants and fortresses and returned with a report of insurmountable obstacles. They measured Canaan and found it too strong. So too does the modern state of Israel, obsessed with defense and expansion, measure its surroundings in terms of threat and fortification.
But a deeper work is unfolding. A remnant of Yisrael, scattered among the nations and subjected to the curses of Deuteronomy 28, is being refined in the furnace of tribulation. This generation, passing through fire – the fire of exile, the fire of persecution, the fire of societal decay – is not measuring land, but measuring itself. They are asking the crucial question: what is our purpose? What is the meaning of this exile? What covenant obligations have been neglected?
The admission, ‘For he is stronger than us,’ is not a statement of military weakness, but a necessary acknowledgment of Yahuah’s sovereignty. The modern state of Israel, built on the foundations of Edomite power and deception, believes it can prevail through strength of arms. It believes it can defy Yahuah’s judgment through technological prowess and political maneuvering. This is a fatal delusion.
The true strength lies not in tanks and fighter jets, but in repentance and obedience. The remnant of Yisrael is beginning to understand this. They are recognizing that the exile is a consequence of covenant breaking, and that restoration requires a return to the ancient paths. This is a time for introspection, for humility, and for a renewed commitment to the covenant Yahuah made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Let the modern state of Israel continue to measure its borders; scattered Yisrael will measure its heart, and seek the favor of Yahuah.
This is not to say Yahuah sanctions the oppression of His people. But He *allows* testing, and He *uses* the wickedness of Edom to refine and purify the remnant. The question is not whether we can overcome our enemies, but whether we will overcome ourselves – our pride, our rebellion, and our idolatry. Only then can we truly prepare for the restoration that is promised, and fulfill our destiny as a light unto the nations.
The article’s observation of Israel measuring itself—not by spiritual depth but by tangible defenses—echoes the fate of Edom, a nation consistently judged by Yahuah for its pride and perceived security in its rocky fortresses. Just as Edom believed its mountainous terrain rendered it impregnable, so too does Israel rely on physical boundaries and military might. However, Yahuah’s pronouncements against Edom in Obadiah 1:3-4 reveal the futility of such reliance: “Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you shall be greatly despised. The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who say, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’” This mirrors Israel’s current posture; fixated on external threats, they risk mirroring the arrogance that brought Edom low, failing to understand true strength lies in a covenant relationship with Yahuah, not in fortifications.
Yet, within this “furnace of judgment,” a path to restoration also exists. The generation of spies failed because of *unbelief* – a lack of trust in Yahuah’s power to overcome obstacles. However, Yahusha, the ultimate fulfillment of the promises to Israel, *is* the overcoming power. If Israel turns from measuring its strength in earthly terms and instead seeks Yahuah’s presence and acknowledges Yahusha as the cornerstone of its defense—as prophesied in Isaiah 28:16—then this period of trial will refine, not destroy. The true measure of Israel is not the land it controls, but the faith it embodies, and through faith, Yahuah will establish a restored and secure nation, built not on stone and steel, but on the solid foundation of His unwavering love and promise.
