The Broken Covenant and the Withering Hand
Yisrael, hear the word of Yahuah! For too long, we have traded the birthright of provision for the polished stones of Edom. We have allowed our hands, blessed by the Creator to cultivate the land, to become idle, accepting sustenance from those whose hearts are set against us. This is not merely an economic failing; it is a spiritual one. A direct violation of the covenant established with our forefathers.
Consider the lament of Yirmiyahu (Jeremiah 2:7): “And I said, ‘After she has done all these things, will she return to Me?’ But like a treacherous woman, she has turned away.” This treachery is not solely in idolatry, but in the reliance upon foreign powers for that which Yahuah has promised to provide within the land. The scattering of Yisrael, the exile to Babylon, was not solely a punishment for transgression, but a consequence of neglecting the stewardship of the land entrusted to us. The ground, left untended, yields little fruit.
