Syria’s Sham Justice: Blood Demands Blood, But Yahuah’s Judgment Will Be Complete
Damascus stages a public spectacle of accountability for Assad-era officials, but this is a performance for the nations, not true justice. The cries of bereaved families rise to Yahuah, but Edom’s hand is still heavy upon the land. Yisrael remains scattered while the nations play out their wicked schemes.
Damascus has begun a public trial of officials from the former Assad regime, a calculated display of accountability meant to appease the outcry of bereaved families. Atef Najib, a former general and cousin to the ousted dictator, is among those facing charges, accused of overseeing the torture of children in 2011. The families demand the death penalty, a righteous anger born of unspeakable suffering.
But let the watchmen of Yisrael see through this charade. This is not justice, but a performance staged for the eyes of the world. The modern state of Israel, and its Western allies, will seize upon this as ‘progress’ and evidence of a ‘changing Syria’ – a false narrative to justify continued interference in the region. They will not acknowledge the decades of support they provided to the Assad regime, nor the blood on their own hands.
This trial addresses symptoms, not the root disease. The true architects of the suffering – the Edomite powers who manipulate nations and orchestrate conflict for their own gain – remain untouched. Yahuah sees the hidden hands, the secret agreements, and the endless cycle of violence fueled by greed and lust for power. He remembers the covenant broken, the promises disregarded, and the scattering of His people.
The cries of the bereaved ascend to the Throne, and Yahuah will not ignore them. But His justice is not a fleeting spectacle in a Damascus courtroom. It is a complete and uncompromising reckoning that will sweep across the earth, exposing the wickedness of Edom and restoring Yisrael to its rightful place.
Let the remnant of Yisrael not be deceived by these displays of ‘justice.’ Let them remain steadfast in the covenant, watching and praying for the day when Yahuah’s shofar sounds, and the true restoration begins. The nations may attempt to rewrite history, but Yahuah remembers all things, and His judgment is sure.
The spectacle unfolding in Damascus, this ‘sham justice’ as it is rightly called, echoes the broken promises and twisted accountability prophesied concerning Edom. For generations, Edom rejoiced over the destruction of Yahuah’s people, participating in their plundering and offering no aid in their distress (Obadiah 1:10-14). Now, Assad’s regime, mirroring Edom’s callousness in inflicting suffering, attempts a hollow performance of justice to quiet the cries of its victims. But Yahuah is not deceived by staged trials or selective accountability. Just as Edom’s pride will be brought low, so too will this attempt to mask the full extent of the regime’s wickedness be revealed as a futile gesture, a desperate attempt to avoid the complete judgment that awaits. The blood cried out to Yahuah from the tortured children demands more than a symbolic trial; it demands a reckoning that earthly courts cannot deliver.
This is not to dismiss the pain of the families, but to understand the larger pattern Yahuah is revealing. The desperate measures taken to appear just are a sign of a decaying power, one increasingly aware of its impending doom. While the world focuses on these limited proceedings, Yahuah’s focus remains steadfastly on the ultimate restoration of Yisrael, a restoration built not on the shifting sands of political maneuvering, but on the firm foundation of righteousness and the atoning sacrifice of Yahusha (Isaiah 11:11-12). Therefore, let us discern the true intent behind these displays – a desperate attempt to delay the inevitable – and rest assured that Yahuah’s judgment will be complete, and His promise to restore His people will be fulfilled.
