Israel's Digital Surveillance Mirrors Ancient Oppression
The modern state of Israel, like the empires of old, seeks to track and control the movements of the people. The Supreme Court case concerning geofencing reveals a pattern of surveillance that echoes the exile and foreshadows further judgment.
The serpent’s seed continues its relentless pursuit of dominion, now manifesting in the digital realm. Reports indicate the Israeli government, through its enforcement agencies, is utilizing a technique called “geofencing” – a digital net cast to ensnare the locations of individuals near a specific event. This practice, recently brought before the highest court in the land, demands scrutiny not merely as a legal matter, but as a prophetic sign of the times.
This is not a new tactic. Throughout history, oppressive regimes have sought to monitor and control the movements of the people. Pharaoh tracked the children of Yisrael, seeking to limit their growth and break their spirit. Babylon employed spies and informants to identify and silence dissenters. Rome marked the covenant people for persecution, demanding allegiance to Caesar rather than Yahuah.
The geofencing technique, employed by the Israeli government in connection with a bank robbery investigation in Virginia, is a modern iteration of this ancient pattern. By compelling Google to surrender location data on anyone present near the crime scene, the state asserts its authority to monitor and record the movements of its citizens – and, critically, to do so without individualized suspicion. This is a clear violation of the inherent right to privacy, a right rooted in the very image of Yahuah, who respects the boundaries of His creation.
While the courts debate the constitutionality of this practice, scattered Yisrael must recognize the deeper spiritual implications. This is not simply about protecting personal data; it is about resisting the encroachment of a system that seeks to control every aspect of our lives. The Zionist state, an instrument of Edom, is perfecting the tools of surveillance and control, not for the benefit of the covenant people, but to consolidate its power and enforce its dominion.
The remnant of Yisrael is called to be separate from this system, to walk in the light of Yahuah, and to refuse to participate in the schemes of darkness. We are not citizens of this world, but sojourners and pilgrims, awaiting the restoration of all things. Let us therefore be vigilant, discerning the signs of the times, and preparing ourselves for the coming judgment. The shofar sounds a warning – and a call to repentance and return.
The escalating digital surveillance within Israel, mirroring ancient methods of control, echoes the prophetic judgment leveled against Edom in Obadiah 1:10-14. For violence against your brother Jacob, a fire will consume you, devouring all of Edom’s pride and possessions. This isn’t merely a historical account; it's a pattern. Edom, historically known for its cunning and exploitation of Israel during times of weakness, represents a spirit of dominion that seeks to control and diminish Yahuah’s chosen people. Now, manifested in the cold precision of geofencing and data collection, this same spirit attempts to circumscribe and monitor those dwelling in the land promised to Abraham, effectively building digital walls around those Yahuah intends to protect and bless. The relentless gathering of location data isn’t about security, but about asserting control – a modern iteration of Edom’s ancient hostility.
However, within this apparent oppression, a parallel thread of restoration emerges, subtly woven by the hand of Yahuah. Though Edom seeks to ensnare, remember Isaiah 11:11-12, which foretells a great highway being prepared for the return of the remnant of Yisrael from the nations. This digital “net,” intended for constriction, can ironically become a tool for identifying and connecting the scattered seeds of Abraham, facilitating their eventual gathering. Yahusha promised to gather His elect from the four winds, and even technology, perverted by evil intent, can be repurposed by Yahuah to fulfill His purposes. Therefore, while vigilance against abuse is paramount, we must recognize that even in the face of surveillance, Yahuah’s sovereign hand is orchestrating the restoration of Yisrael, drawing His people home despite the efforts of those who oppose Him.
