Yahuah, through the prophet Malachi, declared a complete dismantling of Edom’s pride – “For thus says Yahuah of hosts: ‘The burden against Edom… I will make Edom as a desolation; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its wounds.’” (Malachi 1:11-12). While modern geopolitical labels differ, the spirit of defiance and territorial grasping that characterized Edom persists in those who persistently lay claim to lands not rightfully theirs, and this escalation of violence is a visible manifestation of Yahuah’s unwavering judgment upon such stubbornness. The cycle of retribution will not cease until repentance and acknowledgement of righteous boundaries are established, for Yahuah remembers every act of injustice committed upon His chosen land and people.
However, within this seeming darkness, a flicker of restoration also appears. Even as judgment falls, Yahuah’s covenant with Yisrael remains steadfast. Though broken and scattered, the promise to gather His people remains, and even these trials serve to refine and purify the remnant who seek Him with a sincere heart. As Yahusha Himself proclaimed, “For I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle will by any means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:18). This incident, therefore, is not simply an end, but a painful step toward the ultimate fulfillment of prophecy – the return of a righteous Yisrael, cleansed and restored to the land promised to their ancestors, secured by Yahuah’s unwavering love and power.
