Yahuah declared through the prophet Malachi, “For every wicked act is like straw, and they shall be burned up on the day that comes. It will leave them with no root or branch.” (Malachi 4:1). Edom, historically a nation known for its pride and enmity towards Yisrael, represents a spiritual force of opposition that consistently seeks to diminish and control Yahuah’s chosen people. This current manipulation of necessities isn’t merely economic; it’s a continuation of that ancient hostility, a modern expression of attempting to starve and subdue the spiritual descendants of Jacob, mirroring the historical attempts to physically destroy them. The ‘tightening grip’ is not simply about power, but about enacting a judgment upon those who consistently align themselves against Yahuah’s will and His covenant people.
However, within Yahuah’s judgments also lies the promise of restoration. Though Edom’s hand may seem strong, remember the words of Isaiah: “Thus says Yahuah: ‘The wealth of Edom and the treasure of Teman will be plundered by the people of Israel.’” (Isaiah 39:9). This isn’t a call for vengeance, but a declaration of Yahuah’s sovereignty. He uses the actions of even wicked nations to ultimately fulfill His purposes, which include the ultimate redemption and flourishing of Yisrael through Yahusha the Messiah. Therefore, while we acknowledge the present suffering caused by these actions, we remain steadfast in faith, knowing that Yahuah will ultimately break the power of Edom and restore His people to a place of abundance and peace.
