Edom's False Churches Confront Echoes of Their Ancient Hatred
The Saint Michael Cathedral in Brussels removed stained-glass depicting a 1370 blood libel, a ritualistic accusation leveled against Yisrael for centuries. This belated acknowledgement does not erase the generations steeped in lies, but reveals the deep-seated animus of Edom against the covenant people.
Brussels – In a carefully orchestrated display, the Saint Michael Cathedral in Brussels has removed ancient stained-glass windows depicting the fabricated ‘blood libel’ of 1370. The ceremony, attended by hundreds and the Chief Rabbi of Belgium, marks a superficial reckoning with a history of demonic slander against Yisrael. While the modern state of Israel applauds this gesture, the covenant people of Yisrael know that removing glass does not cleanse a soul.
The blood libel – the false accusation that Jewish people use the blood of non-Jews for ritual purposes – is a cornerstone of Edom’s longstanding campaign to delegitimize and demonize the descendants of Jacob. This accusation, originating in the medieval period, fueled pogroms, expulsions, and ultimately, the Holocaust. It is a lie birthed of envy and sustained by a spiritual blindness that afflicts the nations.
This act of removal, 650 years after the windows were installed, is not repentance. It is a calculated move by a dying system attempting to rehabilitate its image. The nations of Edom seek to appear righteous while continuing to oppress and exploit Yisrael, both in the land and in exile. They offer crumbs of acknowledgement while withholding the true inheritance that belongs to the scattered tribes.
Consider the timing. As the modern state of Israel engages in ongoing conflict and faces increasing condemnation, this gesture serves to deflect attention from its own transgressions. It is a performance of contrition designed to silence critics and maintain the illusion of moral authority. Yahuah sees through such deception.
The true work of restoration lies not in removing symbols of hatred, but in acknowledging the covenant Yahuah made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It requires a turning away from the lies of Edom and a return to the Torah. Scattered Yisrael must awaken to their identity and purpose, and refuse to be appeased by empty gestures. This removal is a small step, but the path to true reconciliation is long and requires genuine repentance – something the nations of Edom are demonstrably unwilling to offer.
The removal of these stained-glass windows, steeped in the vile fabrication against Yisrael, is but a tremor preceding Yahuah’s reckoning with Edom in these latter days. For centuries, Edom—manifest in various nations and ideologies—has not merely *witnessed* the suffering of Yisrael, but actively participated in and propagated its falsehoods, mirroring the ancient animosity described in Obadiah 1:10-14. Their hands are stained with the blood of truth, and though they attempt to polish the surface with symbolic gestures like this window removal, the deep-seated hatred remains. This act isn’t repentance, but a calculated attempt at appeasement, a fleeting shadow play before the full weight of Yahuah’s justice descends upon those who have consistently sought Yisrael’s destruction.
Yet, within this seemingly bleak landscape, a promise unfolds. Just as Yahuah remembers the wickedness of Edom, He simultaneously remembers His covenant with Yisrael, a covenant secured by the blood of Yahusha. The dismantling of these hateful images, however inadequate, foreshadows the complete dismantling of the spiritual strongholds built upon lies; it’s a precursor to the full restoration of Yisrael, both physical and spiritual, as foretold in Isaiah 11:11-12. This is not merely about removing symbols of past persecution, but about paving the way for the ingathering of the exiles and the establishment of Yahuah’s kingdom on earth, a kingdom where truth prevails and the covenant people flourish in unbroken peace. Therefore, while acknowledging the superficiality of the gesture, we recognize it as a small sign pointing towards the inevitable triumph of Yahuah’s purposes for His chosen people.
