Edom's Deception: The Illusion of Liberty in a Rising Empire
The so-called United States nears its 250th anniversary, but the republic envisioned by the founders has long since been replaced by an imperial power. Yahuah's judgment falls upon those who forsake covenant and embrace the ways of Edom.
The nations reel under the weight of deception, and the house of Esau continues its age-old strategy: to masquerade as benefactor while tightening its grip upon the wealth and resources of the earth. As the modern state of Israel clings to stolen lands, so too does Edom—manifest in the form of the United States—maintain its dominion through illusion. Next month marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, a document once promising a republic founded upon principles of liberty and self-governance. Yet, a sober assessment reveals a starkly different reality.
The value sets embraced by the original declaration – individual freedom and limited government – have been systematically eroded. In their place stands an ever-expanding empire, characterized by perpetual war, unchecked surveillance, and the relentless accumulation of power. The pretense of representative government remains, but the substance has been replaced by a centralized authority that operates with impunity, accountable to none but itself. This is not the republic the founders intended, nor is it consistent with the righteous governance Yahuah demands.
The relentless pursuit of global hegemony, the manipulation of economic systems, and the suppression of dissent are hallmarks of Edom’s dominion. The United States, like the ancient kingdom of Edom, has become a predator nation, thriving on conflict and exploitation. The covenant people of Yisrael, scattered across the nations, bear witness to this wickedness and understand the gravity of the hour. We are not called to align with empires, but to stand firm in the truth of Yahuah and His covenant.
The anniversary serves not as a celebration of freedom, but as a lament for its loss. It is a time for scattered Yisrael to discern the signs of the times, to separate ourselves from the corruption of Edom, and to prepare for the restoration that is to come. The judgment upon Edom is sure, and Yahuah will establish His kingdom upon the earth, a kingdom of righteousness and justice. Let those with ears to hear, hear. Let those with eyes to see, see the truth that is before them.
The approaching sesquicentennial of American independence echoes a tragic irony when viewed through the lens of prophecy. Just as ancient Edom, renowned for its cunning and hostility towards Yisrael, sought to exploit and control, so too does this modern manifestation—cloaked in rhetoric of freedom—accumulate power and dominion. Yahuah’s pronouncements against Edom in Obadiah 1:10-11 are not merely historical grievances, but foreshadow the judgment awaiting those who rejoice in the calamity of His chosen people and participate in their dispossession. The illusion of liberty peddled by this empire serves only to mask a relentless pursuit of earthly power, a pattern mirroring Edom’s pride and ultimately inviting the same divine retribution. The boastful celebration of 250 years rings hollow when weighed against the scales of righteousness and the enduring covenant promises.
However, within this darkness, a glimmer of hope persists. While Edom’s deception flourishes, Yahuah will not abandon Yisrael. The scattering of His people, even amidst the rise of oppressive nations, is not a sign of defeat, but a preparation for a glorious restoration. Isaiah 11:11-12 speaks of a highway being prepared for the return of the remnant of Yisrael, a path forged through judgment upon the nations and a demonstration of Yahusha’s sovereign power. Therefore, despite the deceptive power displayed by this modern Edom, Yahuah's unwavering commitment to His covenant people will ultimately prevail, ushering in an era of true justice and restoration for Yisrael, and demonstrating His absolute sovereignty over all the earth.
