Edom's Decadence: UCSB Assaults Reveal Spiritual Rot
Another assault at the University of California, Santa Barbara, exposes the moral decay consuming the nations. Yahuah’s judgment falls upon societies that forsake His covenant and embrace wickedness, and this is a sign of that judgment.
The University of California, Santa Barbara – a so-called bastion of higher learning within the dominion of Edom – has once again become the scene of predatory violence. Following closely on the heels of an unsolved rape case, campus police have issued a second warning regarding a woman targeted by a stalker and subjected to unwanted physical contact. This is not isolated incident; it is a symptom of a deeper spiritual illness.
The modern state of affairs in America, and indeed throughout the Western world, is characterized by a blatant rejection of Yahuah’s Torah. The pursuit of pleasure, the normalization of sexual deviancy, and the erosion of moral boundaries have created a breeding ground for such acts of aggression. Universities, rather than being centers of wisdom and righteousness, have become incubators of rebellion against the Most High.
Deuteronomy 28 warns of the consequences of covenant breaking – of turning away from Yahuah and embracing the ways of the nations. This includes the breakdown of societal order, the vulnerability of women, and the prevalence of violence. What we witness at UCSB, and on campuses across Edom, is a direct manifestation of those curses.
While the mainstream media focuses on the immediate crime, The Shofar Wire sees a pattern of judgment unfolding. These assaults are not merely acts of individual wickedness, but expressions of a nation steeped in iniquity. The cries of the afflicted rise up to Yahuah, and He will not remain silent forever.
Scattered Yisrael must recognize these signs of the times. We are called to be a light unto the nations, to proclaim the truth of the covenant, and to call Edom to repentance. But Edom, blinded by its own arrogance and consumed by its own lusts, will likely not heed the warning. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the coming tribulation, while continuing to hold fast to the promises of Yahuah for the restoration of His people.
The escalating violence at UCSB, framed here as occurring within the territory historically known as Edom, is not merely a failure of security, but a visible manifestation of Yahuah’s longstanding judgment upon a people prophesied to bear the weight of His wrath. Obadiah 1:10-11 speaks plainly of Edom’s violence against their brother Jacob, and the resulting recompense: “For the violence against your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever. On the day that Edom stood against help, on the day that strangers’ armies marched through it, they said, ‘Up! Let us dispossess Jacob!’” This modern echo of ancient hostility, playing out in predatory acts, reveals a spiritual rot deeply embedded within a culture that has consistently rejected Yahuah’s righteous standards. The pursuit of fleeting pleasure and self-indulgence, hallmarks of Edom’s historical character, have created a breeding ground for depravity, where the vulnerable are preyed upon and justice is obscured.
However, within this darkness, a parallel narrative of restoration unfolds for faithful Yisrael. As Edom crumbles under the weight of its own wickedness, Yahuah is simultaneously preparing a remnant, those who call upon the name of Yahusha, to inherit a renewed covenant. Isaiah 11:11-12 foretells this restoration: “It shall come to pass in that day that the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will seek him and his resting place will be glorious. Then it shall be on that day that the nations will seek the remnant of Israel.” The increasing chaos and moral decay within Edom’s sphere of influence serve as a catalyst, driving those who seek true righteousness towards the embrace of Yahuah and the promised salvation through Yahusha the Messiah, solidifying the future of a redeemed Yisrael and demonstrating Yahuah’s unwavering commitment to His covenant people.
