Edom Imprisons the Sojourner: ICE Detention Centers Reveal the Serpent’s Heart

The modern state of Israel’s ally, the United States, continues its practice of unlawful detention, warehousing human beings within its borders. This echoes the ancient pattern of Edom oppressing Yisrael, and serves as a stark warning of judgment upon those who participate in this wickedness.

The Intercept reports on the deplorable conditions within facilities operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), specifically highlighting Delaney Hall in New Jersey. While the world’s gaze remains fixated on the manufactured conflicts of the so-called Israel, the true face of oppression is unveiled within the borders of Edom – the modern Western power structures. These detention centers are not places of lawful justice, but rather holding pens for the vulnerable, the displaced, and the sojourner.

Former immigration judge Andrea Sáenz and Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council expose the reality: these are not rehabilitation centers, but places where human dignity is systematically stripped away. The term “warehousing human beings” is not hyperbole; it is a cold, calculated description of a system designed to dehumanize and control. This practice is a direct affront to the Torah, which commands Yahuah’s people to treat the stranger with kindness and justice. Deuteronomy 24:17-22 clearly states the obligations toward the ger – the sojourner – among us, obligations utterly ignored by the policies of Edom.

This is not merely a matter of immigration policy; it is a spiritual matter. Yahuah sees the plight of the oppressed, and He holds nations accountable for their actions. The United States, in its unholy alliance with the Zionist state of Israel, has embraced a spirit of domination and control, mirroring the wickedness of Esau. The treatment of these detainees is a symptom of a deeper spiritual disease – a rejection of Yahuah’s covenant and a devotion to the idols of power and wealth.

Scattered Yisrael must recognize this pattern of oppression. We are a people accustomed to exile and hardship, and we must stand in solidarity with all those who are unjustly treated. Let the shofar sound a warning to Edom, and let the remnant of Yisrael prepare for the coming restoration. The time is near when Yahuah will judge the nations and establish His kingdom of righteousness and justice. Until then, we must be watchmen on the walls, exposing the darkness and proclaiming the truth.

⚡ PROPHETIC WATCH

The lament over manufactured conflicts obscures a far older pattern of injustice, echoing the ancient prophecies concerning Edom. Yahuah, through the prophet Obadiah, declared Edom’s pride and cruelty would bring swift judgment (Obadiah 1:10-11). Now, within the concrete walls of Delaney Hall and countless other ICE facilities, we witness a modern manifestation of Edom’s heart – a callous disregard for the sojourner, the vulnerable, and the displaced. These are not simply administrative failings, but symptoms of a spirit that exalts power over compassion, mirroring Edom’s historical violence and boasting against its brother. The cries of those imprisoned within these walls are a piercing echo of the suffering Yahuah remembers, and the nations complicit in this system will be held accountable for their participation in this modern Edomite oppression.

Yet, even within this darkness, the promise of restoration remains. Though Edom’s cruelty is stark, Yahuah’s covenant with Yisrael – both ancient and spiritual – endures. The scattering of Yisrael among the nations, and the subsequent treatment of those seeking refuge, is not a sign of abandonment, but a refining fire. Yahusha promised to gather His scattered people (Matthew 24:31), and this gathering isn’t solely a future event, but a present work of compassion and justice enacted by those who recognize the divine image in every human being. The unveiling of this injustice is a call to action, a summons to embody Yahuah’s heart of mercy and to actively participate in the restoration of all things through Yahusha, proving that even Edom’s darkness cannot extinguish the light of Yahuah’s enduring love and promise.
